Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Price, Specifications & Features
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is a rugged adventure motorcycle designed for riders who enjoy highways, mountain roads and off-road exploration. Here is everything you need to know about its price, engine, performance, ground clearance, wheels, braking system, fuel tank and features.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 has entered the Indian market with a starting price of Rs. 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom). It becomes the second motorcycle to use Royal Enfieldโs 440 platform, following the Scram 440. Inspired by the rugged character of the discontinued Himalayan 411, the new model continues with a tough adventure-oriented design and is offered in three colour options.
Under the tank, the Himalayan 440 gets a 443cc single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine that delivers 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Power is transferred through a six-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle uses a half-duplex split cradle frame, paired with a telescopic front fork and monoshock rear suspension, giving it the hardware suited for both everyday riding and adventure touring.
The Himalayan 440 offers a 220mm ground clearance, giving it an advantage over the Scram 440โs 200mm clearance. It uses a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke-wheel setup, while braking duties are handled by 300mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes. Royal Enfield has also upgraded the brake calipers with larger pistons to improve braking performance. For added off-road control, the motorcycle features dual-channel ABS with switchable rear ABS.
In terms of equipment, the Himalayan 440 features a semi-digital instrument console. The setup combines an analogue speedometer with a digital display providing fuel level, time, trip and odometer information. It also includes the Royal Enfield Tripper Navigator, offering turn-by-turn navigation.
The wheel combination consists of a 21-inch spoke wheel at the front and a 17-inch spoke wheel at the rear. Braking is handled by 300 mm and 240 mm discs at the front and rear respectively. Royal Enfield has also equipped the Himalayan 440 with larger-piston brake calipers, while dual-channel ABS is standard. The rear ABS can be switched off when greater control is required during off-road riding.
For touring, the motorcycle gets a 17-litre fuel tank. The rider information is displayed through a semi-digital instrument console, combining an analogue speedometer with a digital section showing details such as fuel level, time, trip and odometer readings. Turn-by-turn navigation is provided through Royal Enfield’s Tripper Navigator system.
The overall package makes the Himalayan 440 a rugged motorcycle aimed at riders who want to travel beyond conventional roads and explore challenging terrain with confidence.
